FEATURES

Baby Taylor Body: A -scale Dreadnought, the Baby Taylor is designed to yield a ton of volume for its small size. A layered sapele back is pressed into a slight arch, providing strength and helping produce the Babys full, rich tone. Its also remarkably versatile for special applications, whether played in alternate tunings or high-strung; with a capo or a slide. And its the perfect travel companion or starter guitar for young kids.

Taylors -size mini-Dreadnought helped spawn the travel guitar market with a well-crafted design that blends musicality and playability. Its small size also makes it a great starter guitar for kids and an ultra-compact songwriting guitar, and adds a unique acoustic flavor to a music mix.

Baby Taylor Body Specifications: Body Length: 15 3/4″ / Body Width: 12 1/2″ / Body Depth: 3 3/8″

Layered Sapele Body Wood: Taylors layered backs and sides incorporate three layers of wood, featuring a middle core of poplar with a veneer on each side. While layered woods wont produce quite as complex a sound as solid woods, they allow Taylor to blend exotic looks with climate-resilient construction.

Sound: While the rich tones of solid wood remain unmatched, a layered wood construction can yield great sound in a beautiful, durable and affordable instrument. Such is the case with layered sapele, in which Taylor uses interior and exterior veneers of sapele with a core layer of poplar between them. One of the benefits of layered wood for guitars is extra resilience in the face of fluctuating humidity conditions. This comes in handy for guitars like the GS Mini and Baby Taylor models, which are travel-friendly guitars that may be more directly exposed to different environments. All Taylor layered-wood models feature a solid wood top to optimize the tonal response.

Neo-Tropical Mahogany Top Wood: Harder, denser woods like mahogany and koa that are used on the back and sides of a guitar are sometimes used as tops. Their stiffness initially translates into a bright tone and tends to need more play-in time to open up, but the more a mahogany-top guitar is played, the more it develops overtones that contribute to a fuller, richer sound. A mahogany-top guitar might appeal to rootsy players who like a little extra punchiness in their tone.

Origin: India, Central and South America

Goes Well With: Blues and roots players, anyone who likes an slightly more burly or punchy quality to their tone.

No Electronics: Taylor respects guitar players who know what they wantand what they dont. Most Taylor models that come standard with acoustic electronics can be ordered without them. Just contact your local Taylor dealer and theyll make it happen. The good news is that if you ever change your mind, Taylor’s Service department can install a pickup. Taylor will say that if youre on the fence about it, or think you dont need one right now, its nice to haveyou never know when you might want to do some home recording or play that open mic night and cross it off your bucket list.
